Sharing our happiness, paw step by paw step

We are so grateful for everything in our life that makes us happy : our loving family, our health, our lovely house, our wonderful friends, the beautiful nature that surrounds us and so many things....

We know that sharing our happiness makes it even bigger, so when we made our book "Paw Steps to Happiness", we knew that we could use it to spread happiness around us.

We would like to share with you what we did yesterday to share our happiness.

In the morning Mum and Dad went to two opportunity shops in our suburb to donate some books that they will sell to raise funds : one supports the Australian Animal Protection Society, the other supports the work of Saint Matthew's church, where we went for the blessing of the pets

In the afternoon Mum and Dad went to the Starlight express room of the Royal Melbourne Children's Hospital to donate some books to cheer up the children and their families.
I wish I could've gone with them, I love children, but look, Mum got me a beautiful Starlight ball ! This is how she found out about Starlight, when she saw some volunteers selling balls and other fun stuff. Starlight  Children's Foundation brightens the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children, and their families, throughout Australia. Starlight programs are delivered both in and out of hospital, providing positive distraction to children in their time of need. We are so happy to be able to contribute !

Mum and Dad brought a soft toy Mini Bella and I lent her one of my dresses so the children could see what I'm like :

Mum and Dad met Captain Starlight and Princess Starlight; they are amazing people who do so much to make the children feel better : Captain Starlight’s sole purpose is to bring smiles to sick children by distracting them from their illness and pain using entertainment and engagement. In the eyes of a child, Captain Starlight is a magical super hero, bringing laughter, games, magic and all kinds of fun activities into their lives. Captain Starlight helps children forget they are chronically unwell.

Mum, I think you should join the Starlight team, you would be a great princess Starlight !

And then they met Oscar the wonderful dog who visits the children in Hospital :

I'd love to do what Oscar does; Mum says I have to go to school to learn how to be a volunteer dog and that I have to be very well behaved - well that shouldn't be a problem, I'm always well behaved !

Oscar is like me, he love treats !
Mum and Dad had a wonderful afternoon with the everyone at the Starlight Express Room and would like to thank Starlight for everythuing they do for the children.

We would love to hear from you, my dear friends, what you do to share your happiness ? Remember, it can be a simple as a smile or a lick ! Tell us at westiebella@gmail.com

Great news from our friend Cinnabar !
Cinnabar came home from the hospital yesterday and her Mum Linda was so happy and relieved.
Her platelets are back to normal but she is tired so she needs to rest and continue to take her medicines; she has to go to the vet for another blood test next Thursday so hopefully it will still be OK.
She is really happy to be with her lovely Mum who is to take good care of her : ysterday she had some rump treat for a treat, yummy !
Linda would like to thank everyone for their prayers, it really made a difference - it's the power of the paw !

Love in your heart wan't put there to stay. Love isn't love until you give it away.

We've always tried to donate our gently used wears to whoever needs them the most. For a while, our books went to our local library who resold them and raised money to buy computers. It's a great way to help the community.

Hi Bella and Ollie!

I help my Mom out, I am a registered Service Dog! Yes, tiny me. But I can pick up what Mom drops, I pick up the item them jump on her lap (she's in a wheelchair) and put the item back in her hand. I even get her medicine, it is in different colored containers so I know which one. I can't read yet! BOL

Mom donates used clothes when she has them. But we ususally shop at Goodwill! Mom makes small quilts for doggies in the animal shelter here. She makes 2 or 3 a month. People give her used baby blankets and cotton batting and thread. Then Mom makes the quilts and donates them!

Woo woos, Tessa

Oh Bella, your people are so special for all they do for other people. We give books to day care centers, buy dog food for our animal shelters, and donate clothing whenever we can. And we always donate a bag of food when they hold a food drive thru the post office. We just leave the food on the mailbox and the mailman picks it up and it is all donated to the needy. It feels good but I think Chloe and LadyBug that commented on your site are wonderful to their mom for taking such good care of her. Blessings everywhere!

I think our post from yesterday pretty much sums it up. Morgan, Blueberry and I often visit nursing homes to see humans who live there and the staff. They're always glad to see us and tell us about dogs they've shared their lives with. Even when we're tired at the end of the day, it's a good feeling to see people who don't get much company feel a little happier.
