How can I help ?

Dad told me about what happened in Haiti and I was sad, so I asked Dad what I could do to help and he said that he would give all the proceeds of sales of my calendar to the Red Cross which is helping there.
But how time goes fast, January's coming to an end, so here's February :

Dogs are better than cats !

Mum got this book for Christmas, its called "Why Dogs are better than Cats"; she really loved it, so now it's my turn to read it and she got me some special reading glasses !

Now, let me see :
"The purpose of this book is not to criticize cats or their owners, but to champion the many exceptional virtues unique to dogs that make them superior to cats :
* Dogs are social. Cats are sociopaths.
* Dogs match up to people. People must match up to cats.
* Dogs teach us patience. Cats test our patience.
* Dogs give and give. Cats are the gift that keeps on grifting.
The bottom line is this: Dogs want love. Cats want fish."
The author admits that "there is something to be said for soft, warm, and sleepy cats, but dogs would be the only ones with character enough to admit this fact, thereby once again positioning themselves as the superior pet, confidant, admirer, and friend".

Well, what more can you say ? Of course I completely agree, although I do think cats are cute, but the only problem is that every time I go towards a cat to say hello, it runs away, what a shame !

I had a good Australia Day !

Yesterday we celebrated Australia Day; I really love this day, because we have a barbeque and Dad always cooks some sausages for me (not to mention the ones that fall on the ground). I also love Vegemite, it's delicious.

Time to relax after the barbeque :

I think we should also celebrate Scotland's National day, St Andrews' day on November 30 and the French national holiday, Bastille Day on July 14, because my family comes from France. Mum and Dad say that I'm a truly international doggie - did I mention I understand 2 human languages, English and French ?
That's why I put a link in my blog (top left hand side) to translate it in French for all my francophile friends.
Hoo-roo ! (that's Aussie slang for see you later) and A bientot ! (same in French)

My first work of art !

Remember when I said "I want to be an artist" ? It was my first blog entry too ! Well now the dream has finally become reality, thank to my lovely Mum, and I'm very proud to present to you exclusively on my blog, my very first work of art :

Well you know, I'm not the only artist in the family, there's also Mum with her lovely drawing of cats : (she also loves beading, sewing and felting, and I've promised here I'll put more of her art work on my blog)

Anais (my sister, 17) made this lovely drawing of yours truly sleeping (she says I move too much and it was the only way she could draw me !). There's more of her artwork here

Dad loves photography, here's a photo he took in France : (and there's more here)

Amelie (my other sister, 20)  is a good photographer too, here's one she took of Charlie having a cup of tea, isn't he gorgeous ? There's more here

My friend Charlie

Let me introduce to you my good friend Charlie the Cockatiel; he's been complaining that he doesn't have a blog, but he's such a small bird, he can't go on all the adventures that I've been on, it's too dangerous: there are cats and foxes out there who could hurt him, so I'd have to protect him ! I told Dad he could put some photos of him on my blog.

You know I'm so glad to have this blog because I've made so many friends. Please have a look at my friends' blogs : there's Hamish, Martha and Bailey, Jazzi, Bonnie, Lilly, Piper, Carrleigh and Java, Minnie and Santa, they all have a lot of fun and many adventures too.

My new friends

My auntie Mimi looks after some dogs when their Mum and Dad can't take them on their holidays, but Mimi looks after them so well, they're really happy.
So I went to say hello; there's the lovely Snoopy (Mimi and Martin's dog), Boris, Missy, yours truly and Tiger Lily. We had so much fun, I can't wait until they come back so I can go and play with them again !

I'm back from my wonderful holidays !

When Dad started packing the car, I made sure he didn't leave me behind !
"Don't be silly Bella, when have we ever left you behind ?", said Dad - well you can never be too sure...

I slept all the way , and I was really glad to arrive at our favorite holiday place, Rosella Cottage.

It's in Hall's Gap, in the Grampians National Park. Mum said there are also some mountains called Grampians in Scotland - it doesn't surprise me, so many good things come from Scotland !

We often went for walks at lake Bellfield which is near the cottage - here I am with Anais :

We saw plenty of Kangaroos on our walks, but when I said hello to them, they would hop away, what a shame, I would have loved to play with them...

I must say that it's a wonderful place to rest and relax, which we all did plenty of !

There were lots of Rosellas at the cottage of course :

But also cockatoos - they would come in the morning and afternoon and wait for Mum and Dad to give them some seeds or bread (and I would pick up any bread that fell on the ground !)

Mum and Dad went to Halls Gap Zoo - they love it and go there every time we come to Rosella cottage (I wish I could come with them). They were very lucky to see some alpacas being shorn, because it's only done once a year - Dad said I look like a little alpaca, so he could use my fur to make a scarf, and then he said "Bella, don't be afraid, I was only joking !" - what a relief !

Here's what he looks like after, with his friend waiting for his turn :

So the next day, they went to Blue Moon Alpaca farm :

They bought a scarf and some hats made with alpaca wool ;I tried one on, it looks really nice and the wool is so light and soft; Dad said he got a scarf there last year and it kept him warm all winter. If you're interested, let me know because Steve (the owner of the farm) said he can ship scarves, hats and doonas anywhere in the world :

One day on a walk we saw some emus, they're very big and I was a bit scared :

Dad loves taking photos and he said I am a good photographer's dog because I am very patient when he takes a long time to take his photos; well I'm glad to be able to contribute :

What a wonderful time we had there, I can't wait to go back !

We're going on holidays in 2 days !

We're going on holidays in 2 days; I'm so happy because we're going back to Rosella Cottage. We've been there before and I love it so much because I can run around in the big garden and we go for long walks and see kangaroos, deers, emus, kookaburras, rosellas and cockatoos. When we get back, I'll tell you all about it !
